Our Homestyle stuffing combines cubed French bread, sautéed celery and onions, butter, and herbs with a touch of cranberries, apples, and sausage. (Serves 6-8).
Prep time: 50-55 min.
Thaw in refrigerator.
1.Preheat oven to 375°F and spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. To toast bread, cut it into 1-inch cubes and spread evenly in baking dish. Place in oven while it is preheating and remove after 5-7 min.
2.In small saucepan, place spice mix and 2 cups of water (for moist stuffing, add 1/2 cup more water) and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low to keep warm.
3.In a med. saute pan, over med. high heat, cook celery, onions and butter blend until tender and golden.
4.In baking pan with bread, toss together cubed bread mixture, sauteed vegetables, and fruit and sausage mix. Evenly pour heated spiced broth over stuffing.
5.Cover with foil sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and bake for 20-25 min. Uncover and finish baking an additional 10 min. until golden. Remove bay leaves before serving.
